Violinist Anna Majcherczyk and violist Dr. Luis Casal form an eclectic musical partnership that bridges continents and traditions. Based in New York City, the duo is united by a shared commitment to performing both the beloved staples of the violin and viola repertoire and exploring more contemporary works from the 20th and 21st centuries—music they find inspiring and worth sharing with audiences.

Bio

Originally from Poland, Anna Majcherczyk has an impressive education, with honors from the Music Academy in Krakow and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. She has performed at prestigious venues like the Berliner Philharmonie and Vienna’s Musikvereinsaal, and held a leading position with the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra in Germany. Now based in New York, Anna continues to play an important role in the city’s vibrant music scene, performing as concertmaster for various orchestras and as a sought-after chamber musician.

Luis Casal is a leading Panamanian violinist and violist, honored as a “Remarkable Citizen of Panama 2015.” His distinguished career includes serving as Vice President of the Sinfonía Concertante Foundation. A committed educator, he teaches at The Juilliard School’s Music Advancement Program (MAP) and other institutions. Formerly the Principal Violist of the National Symphony of Panama, he performs internationally as the violinist of the Ensemblast quartet and violist of the Marcherczyk & Casal Duo. He has also premiered works by contemporary composers.
