Luis Casal is an internationally active performer, educator, and advocate for Latin American music. He was named “Remarkable Citizen of Panama 2015” by the National Commission Pro Civic Values and Morals.

Casal appears regularly as a soloist and chamber musician, with performances at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Hall, Merkin Hall at the Kaufman Music Center, the Millennium Stage at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

He currently serves as Concertmaster of the ADCA Symphony Orchestra and the BCCO (Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra), and as Principal Violist of the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra. His previous appointments include Principal Violist of the National Symphony of Panama (ad honorem), Principal Violist of the Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra, and Concertmaster of the Butler Symphony Orchestra.

A dedicated chamber musician, he performs with the Majcherczyk & Casal Duo alongside violinist Anna Majcherczyk and as violinist of Isaac Casal’s Ensemblast, a piano quartet featuring Isaac Casal, Roberto Zúñiga, and Alejandra Saez.

A committed educator, he is a viola instructor at The Juilliard School’s Music Advancement Program (MAP)  and teaches at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music and the Kaufman Music Center.

An active collaborator with contemporary composers, he has premiered numerous works; his 8 Etudes for Violin was commissioned in 2021 by Juilliard’s Music Advancement Program.
